Trail run of the 8000 m3 Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger——“Xin Zilang 3”
On July 2, 2020, the 8000 M3 Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (“Xinzilang No.3”) (“TSHD”)built for Jiangsu Haihong Construction Engineering Co., Ltd (“HAIHONG”) by Jiangsu Haixin Shipping Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. (“HAIXIN”) sailed for East China Sea for her sea trail and dredging test and has safely returned gac to HAIXIN’s outfitting wharf in the afternoon of July 6 after all relevant tests been successfully completed. The dredger is invested by HAIHONG, designed by MARIC and built by HAIXIN. With the compliance with IMO Tier III of emmision requirement, the dredger is suitable for dredging compaign in coastal port area and channels together with coastal maintenance project under unrestricted service deployment.
During sea trial, various tests e.g. the release and recovery test of Rescue Boat and Llifeboat, loading test of Main Engine, Speed Test, Steering Test, Williamson Test, Shafting Power Test, Noise and Vibration Test etc. were all successfully being carried out with all index approved to reach or even above designed requirement, e.g. the speed under full loaded draft reached 14.8 Knots, which is 10% faster than designed speed and the light draught speed of 17.5 knots. During dredging operation, mud gate dumping test,DPDT dredging test were all successfully completed, among them 50 minutes taken with one underwater pump working, reached 60m depth; 25 minutes taken with two dredge pump working; 65 minutes taken for inboard pump dredging; all above data are far above designed requirement.
The equipment configured in this THSD also have been upgraded in comparison with previous. In order to satisfy the dredging requirement of multiple terrain, the dredging depth of her starboard hopper arm can reach as deep as 60M and two sets of hopper head hanger are installed on starboard deck, which makes different depth dredging operation simaltenously is feasible, and with the control of DPDT system, high precision dredging mode such as DT dredging mode, DT navigation dredging mode, positioned dredging mode etc are all achievable. The underwater pump (mainly adopted for underwater dredging operation) and inboard pump (mainly adopted for discharging operation) equipped onboard enables the THSD to bring into fully play in dredging ability under clay discarding and excavating condition.
The successful sea trial and dredging test of “Xinlangzi No.3” sets up a solid foundation for her smoothly delivery. During the following one week, project team will save no efforts to put her into operation in shortest time following rectification of those deficiencies raised during sea trail by means of elaborate organization of all relevant engineers and technicians.
