Recently, Haixin shipyard signed the contract with Wartsila regarding the manufacture and commissioning of diesel engine for the world’s largest non-self-propelled cutter suction dredger. The diesel engine was designed for generating electricity, providing power and driving the dredge pump. The power of dredge pump reached 5200 kW.
This dredger was designed by the Design & Research Institute of Ship and Ocean Engineering at Shanghai Jiaotong University, and being invested by Jiangsu Haihong Construction Engineering Co., LTD. After the delivery, the dredger will be taken into use in the South China Sea and Middle Eastern waters.
The 6500 CBM vessel will be equipped with four 12-cylinder Wartsila 32 engines, two of which will be used to drive the dredging pump. According to the contract terms, the diesel engine is scheduled to be delivered in August 2015.
